Week 01 Photographer - Magdalena Wywrot

Magdalena Wywrot is a photographer from Krakow, Poland. Her photos, which are documentary and monochrome, often capture a sense of dynamic and spontaneous motion. One common theme in her work is the transition from adolescence to adulthood, which she explores by using her daughter as a subject. I discovered her work in the magazine Juxtapoz, as well as on her website.

Week 02 Photographer - Lorenzo Scudiero

Lorenzo Scudiero is a photographer and filmmaker from Italy; his work contains a lot of portrait and landscape photography done in analogue film. He tries to capture different ways of seeing things,  and places more value on portraying something in a unique way than portraying a unique subject. I really enjoy his work and the aesthetic that he creates through the usage of analogue film. His experience in film is evident in his photos; they have a cinematographic aspect. Many of the portraits seem very natural feel like they could be right out of your memory, but with a bit of an added fantastical effect. The way he shows things from unusual perspectives is one of his best strengths as a photographer.

Week 04 Photographer - Christian Tagliavini

Christian Tagliavini is a Swiss-Italian photographer that I found this week. His work is really interesting; some of his work blends the line between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional representation in photography, while others combine Renaissance-style portraits with modern touches. Much of his work blends aesthetics of the past, present, and future into a fascinating amalgam. Some of his photos also have a strong narrative element; they feature unconventional characters that make you think about what the story going on in the photos is about.
